Day Camp Team Leader
Team Leaders will lead teams of 4 staff to California and Nevada churches for weeklong Day Camp programs. Responsible for the coordination, organization, and leadership of programs. Must be 21 years or older with very strong people and communication skills, able to work with both ELCA and LCMS Lutheran congregations. Guitar or other musical skills preferred. Previous camp or church leadership experience preferred. Good driving record. Must provide copy of driving record.
Camp Counselor
Responsible for the care of 8-10 campers for a week at a time while building community, caring for their safety, leading them in small group activities (Bible encounters, worship, challenge course, games, etc.) Must be a positive role model and be willing to carry out the program as defined in Staff Training. Counselors may rotate through on-site program positions, tree house program, day camp, kitchen and maintenance duties. Will also work in various work projects as assigned. Special skills desired include: ARC life guarding, musical talents, CPR and first aid certifications. Must be at least 18 years old, and a have a year of post-high school experience.
Assistant Cook
Work with the Food Service Director to ensure that good, nutritious meals are served. Duties include food preparation, distribution, table preparation, dishes, and cleaning floors. Will oversee and delegate tasks to kitchen support staff, and volunteers.
Kitchen Support Staff
Serving in the camp kitchen and assisting in the preparation, distribution and clean-up of camp meals is your primary responsibility. Work in other areas of camp as assigned by the Program Director, helping with camp housekeeping, camper activities, and more. Must be at least 17 and be a graduated High School senior.
Lifeguard Support Staff
Must have a certified American Red Cross or other American Camping Association approved lifeguard certification. Responsible for the general safety of all persons at the pool and creek. Duties include life guarding, overseeing pool, creek walking activities, and helping in other support areas around camp. Must be at least 17 and be a graduated High School senior
Trading Post/ Office Coordinator
Responsible for the organization of the camp store. Responsible for overseeing camp store hours and assist in purchasing of store merchandise. Will also help the registrar with entering data into computer. Must have strong organization skills; be self-motivated, and able to complete tasks without direct supervision. Job hours vary. Must provide a copy of driving record.
Arts and Crafts Coordinator
Serve the camp community by primarily developing, designing, and implementing a creative arts and crafts program for all summer campers. Must have strong creative skills and be self-motivated. Must like glue, mod-podge, messes, and crayons. A passion for hot-glue and glitter preferred.
Offsite-Adventure Trip Leader
Lead various offsite trips, including wilderness and other adventure type programs. Works primarily with Junior High and High School students. High level of maturity and decision making capability needed. This job contains long hours, high levels of responsibility and the ability to make mature responsible decisions when under pressure. Must have experience in wilderness camping, wilderness ethics, and posses Christ-like leadership skills. Applicants need to affirm Mt. Cross’ sense of stewardship for the outdoors and creation, and be willing to foster that spirit within campers. Must have previous experience on a camp staff, preferably in a camp-counseling role. Must be 21 years or older and have a good driving record. Must have Wilderness First Aid, and ARC Lifeguard certification preferred. Other requirements do apply. Must provide copy of driving record.
Nurse/Medic
Serve the camp community by supervising the overall physical health and safety of all staff and campers. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have Red Cross First Aid certification minimum; licensed physician, registered nurse, EMT or paramedic preferred. Must provide driving record.
Summer Day Camp Coordinator
Organize, send-out, supervise, check-in and visit all summer day camp teams. Must have good driving record and strong organizational skills. Must be able to communicate well with adults and under pressure.
Main-site Coordinator
The main-site coordinators must have demonstrated maturity, responsibility, integrity, and strong leadership skills. Our main-site coordinators must also possess good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, as well as a strong faith that encourages and nurtures other staff. Some daily responsibilities include conduction of daily staff meetings, planning camp-wide activities and creating weekly staff assignments on site. Includes directing, training, and supervising main-site staff and volunteers. Main-site Coordinators must be 21 or older with a clear driving record and posses previous outdoor ministry experience. |
