Mt. Cross is a special place to many people.
Here are a few facts about Mt. Cross. - Mt. Cross was incorporated as the Lutheran Bible Camp Association of Northern California in 1948.
- Mt. Cross was originally an
American Lutheran Church (ALC) camp.
- Mt. Cross changed to Lutheran Outdoor Ministries of Northern California in 1982. This was also the same year when the relationship with the LCMS became official.
- Mt. Cross is one of the few Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in the nation that is jointly operated by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) & Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
- Mt. Cross has approximately 105 acres of land. Most of that land is hiking trails through the Redwood Trees in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
- Mt. Cross's constituency is comprised of over 400 Lutheran Churches in California, Nevada & Hawaii.
- Mt. Cross is open year-round for retreat groups & other programmed events.
- Mt. Cross has held an annual Memorial Day Work party & BBQ since 1948.
- Each summer, Mt. Cross hires 40-50 college age students to work on the staff to provide programming for summer camp programs. In doing this we provide valuable leadership & training experiences to potential clergy, youth workers & outdoor ministry professionals.
